Lesson 4

SUrvival Essentials

Depends on the context, the word, survival, has different meanings.
Take, for example, we know from experiences (and books) that sun, air, and water are three fundamental elements for plants to survive. Likewise, many people consider food and shelter are basic necessities to maintain our lives. Some believe survival is determined by our attitude toward life, such as staying positive. For others, being able to keep a certain lifestyle is just as important as having food on the table. As you can see, whether it is about preservences or preservations, we all have different ideas on what survival means. Therefore, in this lesson, I would encourage you to
critically reflect on what consider as survival essentials? In other words, what items/attitudes you believe will help you 'survive' during a life-threatening crisis?

Color Pencils/Markers
SURVIVAL:
--the act or fact of living or continuing longer than another person or thing;
--the continuation of life or existence  -Merriam-Webster
Artistic Style:
The use of color plays an important (another way to say essential) role in making an artwork. Using abundant and vibrant colors in an artwork certainly brings life, energy, and excitement. However, sometimes, by limiting the use of color, it actually creates dramatic moods that pull the viewers in. It also provides a focal point for viewers to see.
